Your voucher is valid for two years, and includes an aerotow launch to 2000 feet followed by 15 to 30 minutes of flying time in a two-seater glider with a qualified instructor. It also includes one month’s membership of the club beginning on the day you take your trial lesson.

There are no age limits for taking a trial lesson in a glider, though we do not recommend gliding for children younger than 12 years. For safety reasons there is a maximum weight restriction of 16 stone (242 lbs/110 kg). The cockpit may not be large enough for you if you are more than 6' 6" (1.98 metres) tall. If this is the case please discuss this with us before booking. If you have mobility problems please contact us before booking. Anyone under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Please note that for legal and safety reasons you should not consume alcohol within 12 hours before flying. If we have reason to suspect that you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs you will not be allowed to fly. If you suffer from any of the following medical conditions we require you to obtain a certificate from your doctor that (s)he considers you fit to fly in a glider with access to the controls: epilepsy, fits, severe head injury, recurrent fainting, giddiness or blackouts, unusually high blood pressure, a previous coronary, insulin-controlled diabetes or psychiatric problems.

We do not fly in rain, in poor visibility or in strong winds from certain directions, and there are occasions when experienced pilots fly in rough air conditions which would be unsuitable for a beginner. If we are unable to fly at the time you have booked we will offer you another time. If your Trial Lesson has to be cancelled for bad weather or any other reason we will try to contact you in advance. We will not be held liable for any travel costs to the airfield where the lesson is cancelled.

When you arrive on site, please remember that you are entering an active airfield. If there is no-one at the entrance, follow the track on the left (NOT the track straight ahead) along the very edge of the trees and past the wind sock until you reach the hangars, where someone will meet you, direct you where to park, and tell you what you need to do. For safety reasons please do not drive across the grass runway.

Wear comfortable clothing and flat shoes, and make sure you bring something warm as it can be cold in flight. You can bring your camera or camcorder – the views are superb!

You are welcome to bring along guests, but for safety reasons please make sure that children are closely supervised while on the airfield. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.

If you need to contact us on the day of your booking, the clubhouse telephone number is 01343 860272. If you have any other questions, or to contact us at any other time, please Contact Us.

We hope that you will enjoy your visit to Easterton Airfield.
